The initiative

Beyond Academia is Politecnico di Milano's Career Day dedicated to PhD candidates, PhD graduates and postdoctoral researchers interested in exploring professional opportunities beyond academia.

The initiative aims to highlight the value of research skills and connect highly qualified professionals with companies, institutions and organizations interested in research talent and innovation.

Through Alumni stories, mentoring sessions and one-to-one meetings with employers, Beyond Academia offers opportunities for career exploration, professional networking and meaningful connections between research and the world of work.

First Edition

The first edition of Beyond Academia took place on June 16, 2026, at Politecnico di Milano's Leonardo Campus.

The programme brought together round tables focusing on career paths beyond academia and the value of research skills, mentoring sessions with PhD and Postdoc Alumni, and individual meetings with employers from different sectors.
