INSIDE THE PROJECT: Intelligent Network Connectivity Company Case
Intelligent networks are at the core of many of the services and technologies we use every day: from connected mobility to smart cities, from Industry 4.0 to the Internet of Things, through to the most advanced digital infrastructures.
During this Career Talk, you will get to the heart of a real company project and discover how intelligent network connectivity solutions are designed, developed, and managed in a professional context.
Through the direct experience shared by company professionals, you will learn about the technical and organisational challenges related to intelligent connectivity: data management, network reliability, security, automation, scalability, and integration between different systems.
The event will be an opportunity to understand how engineering, digital, and management skills come together in the development of connected, efficient, and secure infrastructures capable of enabling new services and business models.
What can you expect?
· The presentation of a company case related to intelligent network connectivity
· An overview of the technologies, challenges, and applications of intelligent networks
· Direct interaction with industry professionals
· Useful insights into emerging roles, skills, and career paths
· The opportunity to ask questions and explore technical, digital, and organisational aspects
This Career Talk is designed for students and graduates interested in discovering how intelligent connectivity is transforming infrastructures, services, and business processes, opening up new professional opportunities in highly innovative sectors.
During the event, the companies will present concrete use cases related to network innovation and system optimization.
LUTECH
An overview of the main technological innovations driving the development of intelligent networking — from SDN to automation and AI agents — applied to the four key network areas (Campus, Data Center, Service Provider, WAN), followed by a real use case on the transport/WAN side involving SD-WAN technology, applied to one of our clients.
WINDTRE
The use case is the "smart energy" project, which consists of optimizing the parameters of the algorithm used to switch the RRU component of radio cells on and off, with the aim of optimizing energy consumption based on user traffic. The optimization uses historical weekly KPIs to determine the optimal parameters that make it possible to keep the RRU switched off for as long as possible, while always maintaining a guaranteed minimum level of network quality. The update takes place on a weekly basis in order to adapt to changes in traffic patterns caused by various factors (e.g. seasonality, tourism, etc.).
NOKIA
An overview of how Nokia is entering the AI supercycle and transforming its portfolio and approach to telecommunications networks. The session will focus on the evolution taking place across its three main groups — Network Infrastructure, Mobile Infrastructure and Bell Labs — and on how portfolio, operating models and research profiles are being reshaped to meet the challenges of the new AI era.
STMICROELECTRONICS
From data silos to a connected knowledge base: cloud, on-prem and sensitive data
In a complex and distributed organization such as STMicroelectronics, valuable technical knowledge can be fragmented across different systems, sites and teams, creating data silos that limit the potential of Artificial Intelligence applications. The case will explore how a unified knowledge base can connect heterogeneous sources and enable smarter and more consistent access to information across a distributed engineering environment. The session will also address the main architectural and infrastructure choices involved in hybrid AI deployments: when to run LLMs in the cloud or on-premises, how to balance performance, cost, security and governance, and how to securely manage sensitive or confidential data.
FIBERCOP
Quantum-Safe Network Service with Quantum Key Distribution on Edge Cloud
FiberCop will present a case focused on the development of quantum-safe network services, designed to protect communications against emerging cybersecurity threats, including those associated with future quantum computing capabilities. The case will focus on the integration of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) with Edge Cloud infrastructures, showing how next-generation technologies can be applied to telecommunications networks to enable secure cryptographic key distribution and strengthen data protection.
The event will be held in English and is part of the Career Service Award.
